The Province of North Maluku
Some fast facts about North Maluku
Capital: Ternate. Area: 30,895 sq. km. Population: 825.986 Borders: Pacific Ocean on the north, Province of North Sulawesi on the west, Province of Maluku on the south/southwest and Province of Irian Jaya on the east. The main seas are : Maluku, Seram, Halmahera and Arafura Sea. Physical Features : This province is composed of three main islands such as Halmahera, Ternate and Tidore Islands. Mountains : Gamalama, Keimatubu Lakes : Laguna, Tolire Besar, Makete Duma. Humidity : 83.5%. Lakes: Laguna, Tolire Besar, Duma, Rana, Telaga Maya and Choilim. Flora: Meranti (Dipterocarpaceae), gofasa, ironwood, lenggua and various kinds of orchid including "anggrek bulan" or white orchids. Fauna: Wild goat, buffalo, kuskus, parrot, taon bird and paradise bird. Exports: Plywood, processed wood, veneer, rattan, resin, cacao, coconut cake, coconut oil, frozen shrimps and fish, nickel, manganese. Food Crops: Rice, corn, peanut and soybean. Commercial Crops: Coconut, clove, cacao, coffee and cotton. Fish Products: Tuna, skipjack tuna, barramundi, shrimp, anchovy, travelly, mackerel and garfish. Forest Products: Rattan, resin, log, processed wood, Hunimuna Sea Garden, Namalatu beach, Tulehu Spring water and Portuguese Fort.
